View Full Version : Doctoral opportunities in cartilage and intervertebral disctissue mechanics, University of Auckland

04-06-2004, 07:48 AM
Suitable candidates are currently being sought for doctoral studies in
the area of experimental tissue biomechanics relating to cartilage and
intervertebral disc. The programs are strongly experimental with a
primary emphasis relating structure (micro and ultramicroscopic) to
mechanical function and disfunction.

The research would be conducted in the Tissue Biomechanics and
Biomaterials Research Laboratory which is part of the Department of
Chemical and Materials Department in the School of Engineering,
University of Auckland.

Applicants would need to have a strong interest in biomaterials,
structural analysis and some mechanics of solids background.

A tax-free cost of living stipend and local PhD fee registration will be
paid. Candidates with permanent residence status from Australia,
France and Germany would qualify for reciprocal fee status and hence
would find the positions and related funding support especially
attractive. Others interested would need to find additional funding to
cover the higher doctoral fees charged to foreign students.
