The American Sports Medicine Institute (www.asmi.org) is a non-profit organization located in Birmingham, Alabama. The mission of ASMI is to improve the understanding, prevention, and treatment of sports-related injuries through research and education. A position is now available for a biomedical engineer to join our research team.

The qualified candidate should have a master's degree in biomedical engineering or related field. The successful candidate will be involved in two types of biomechanics research - joint biomechanics (including testing of cadavers in MTS) and motion analysis (using a Motion Analysis Corp. system). Interest in sports medicine is not required, but could make the job even more fun for the candidate.

Desirable, but not necessary, are previous experience with MTS, experience with Motion Analysis Corp., programming knowledge in Visual C++, JAVA, or web design. The candidate should have knowledge of functional anatomy, kinematics, kinetics, statistics, and scientific writing.

If interested, please email a cover letter and resume to me. The cover letter should include your date of availability, salary requirements, and any special considerations and needs. Your resume should include name and email addresses for three references.

I look forward to hearing from you.
