Research Assistant

The Rehabilitation Research & Development Center of Excellence for Limb Loss
Prevention and Prosthetic Engineering at the VA Puget Sound Health Care
System in Seattle has a position available for a Research Biomechanist. The
successful candidate will assist the directors and senior staff,
collaborating investigators and engineering graduate students in designing
and conducting research studies appropriate to the goals of the Research
Center. The successful candidate will be responsible for interacting with
research subjects, acquiring and analyzing kinetic and kinematic data, and
documenting the results. Excellent written and oral communication skills are
expected. Technical competencies preferred, but not required, include the
calibration and day-to-day maintenance of the Motion Analysis Laboratory's
equipment including: force and pressure plates, retro-reflective and
electromagnetic motion analysis systems, accelerometers, dynamic EMG and
metabolic performance instruments.

This position requires a Bacheloršs degree Mechanical Engineering,
Biomechanics, or Bioengineering, as well as knowledge of the theories,
principles, practices and techniques of biomechanics. The candidate should
have a least one year experience working in a motion analysis laboratory.
Necessary skills include knowledge and experience in mechanical engineering
and bioengineering, computer systems, anatomy and physiology, medical
statistics, execution of research studies, and preparation of publications
and reports.
