Our Laboratory seeks applicants for the post of a laboratory
manager/technician. The research focus of our lab is the human hand
and upper extremity, with an emphasis on understanding the
biomechanics and sensorimotor function underlying manipulation.
Responsibilities include the design and fabrication of
electromechanical experiments, programming of data acquisition
software, recruiting subjects, executing experiments, testing of
cadaveric specimens, assisting in data collection, data analysis, and
technical writing.

Background in bioengineering, mechanical or electrical engineering
with emphasis in experimental studies is preferred. The equipment in
the laboratory includes 6-DOF robotic arms, VICON motion capture
systems, specialized load frames, EMG amplifiers and Phantom haptic
devices. Expertise in MATLAB, and common computer
hardware/OS/software are required. Familiarity with C, machine shop
fabrication, and electronic circuits is also required.

The position involves close interaction with faculty, engineering
students, post-doctoral fellows and clinicians. A bachelor's degree
in engineering or a science related field is required; a Master's
degree is preferred. Applicants with research experience will be
given strong preference. The position is available immediately. It is
funded for 2 years, and dependent availability of research funds
