Three vacancies exit and may be filled at one or more of the
following levels:

SENIOR LECTURER (Reference AC93-102)
LECTURER (Reference AC93-101)

Appointments may be made to a Continuing or to a Limited Term -
5 years (Convertible) Appointment

This newly reorganised department within the Faculty of Health
and Behavioural Sciences has a mandate to create a strongly
research-orientated department dedicated to producing quality
graduates in the health and biomedical sciences. A new building
is being built to house the Faculty and will include excellent
research and postgraduate facilities for the Department of
Biomedical Sciences.

The Department has a major program focussing on the roles of
diet, exercise and genetic factors in health and disease.
Particular research strengths are in factors leading to the
development of the cluster of diseases related to insulin
resistance: obesity, diabetes, dyslipidaemias, hypertension and
heart disease. Complementary strengths are in BIOMECHANICS,
exercise and environmental physiology, nervous control systems,
and applied human anatomy.

Applicants with strong research and teaching credentials may come
from a broad range of health and behavioural science backgrounds.
Expertise in one ore more of the research areas detailed above
may be n advantage but demonstrated excellence in research is a
major consideration. Appointment at Associate Professor level
will require an applicant with a strong international research

Salary ranges (annual) Associate Professor (Level D): $60,475-
$66,625; Senior Lecturer (Level C): $50,225-$57,913; Lecturer
(Level B): $41,000-$48,688. A limited term appointment may be
converted to a continuing appointment, which is one until
