It appears anthropometric equations have not been developed specifically
for obese subjects, however there has been some across different body types
Durkin, J.L. and Dowling, J.J. (2003). Analysis of body segment parameter
differences between four human populations and the estimation errors of
four popular mathematical models. Journal of Biomechanical Engineering,
125(4): 515-522.
Durkin, J.L., Dowling, J.J., and Andrews, D.M. (2002). The measurement of
body segment inertial parameters using dual energy x-ray absorptiometry.
35(12): 1575-1580.
FONTAINE, K.R., GADBURY, G., HEYMSFIELDS, S.B., KRAL, J., ALBUS, J.B.,
ALLISON, D (2002) Quantitative Prediction of Body Diameter in Severely
Obese Individuals Ergonomics Volume: 45 Issue: 1 Page(s): 49 - 60

Some good suggestions were made in relation to the possible errors if
existing equations were used.
Plamondon, Gagnon & Desjardins (1996) - Clinical Biomechanics (11 - p.101)
Lariviere et al (1998) Clinical Biomechanics (13 - p.36)
Lariviere & Gagnon - Clinical Biomechanics (14 - p. 449).
Pearsall et al (1995) Annals of Biomedical Engineering (1996) p 198
Devita P et al 2004 Author's Response In Press Journal of Biomechanics
Pearsall & Costigan, 1999,
Ganley & Powers, 2004

I was also reminded about Robert Jensens early work
Jensen's (1978) Journal of Biomechanics (11 p.349).

With thanks to Peter, Jennifer, Max, Paul and Jason
