Professorial Position at Cardiff University/University of Wales
College of Medicine.

Please note that this position is in development new areas of
research and would be of particular interest to those working in
Biomechanics, Biomedical Engineering and Biomaterials. Strong
research groups already exist within these areas at Cardiff.

CHAIR IN DENTAL SCIENCE

Salary to be paid on the University Professorial Scale

Applications are sought from an experienced and successful scientist
to expand and support the development of laboratory based clinical
research within the Dental School. This new post is part of the
research strategy of the University of Wales College of Medicine and
its aim is to provide a focus for the development of new clinical
initiatives related to laboratory based research of relevance to the
oro-facial region. The successful applicant will be an experienced
researcher with an excellent record of publications and research
funding. They may be either a clinician or a scientist with a record
of successful working with clinicians. He/she will be able either to
develop a new area of research or to add significantly to one of the
School’s existing successful areas.

Existing areas of expertise within the school include Matrix Cell
Biology, Tissue Regeneration and Repair, and Biomaterials and
Biomechanics. Close working with other research areas both within the
College and Cardiff University would be encouraged.

Clinical candidates should hold or be within three months of
obtaining their CCST in the relevant speciality, or be listed on the
Specialist Register. This does not apply to non-clinical applicants.

There will be significant opportunities for research collaboration
following merger with Cardiff University in August 2004. The merger
has been supported by significant additional funding from the Welsh
Assembly Government (through the Higher Education Funding Council for
Wales) and from the Office of Science and Technology (OST)
