View Full Version : Abnormal gait in untrained women

Something that I've observed and which has struck a chord with a couple of people (including a Badminton coach) is that women/girls tend to have their lower leg swing out after the toe-off point rather than keeping the leg in line while running.

I think I remember seeing this also when running backwards (important for Badminton).

Is this something to do with the 'Q-angle'? I've done a bit of a Google but am not quite there yet. I'm presuming this is a bad thing in terms of effeciency and injury risk?

If it is a problem, what should be done to correct it? Is it a matter of skills training or strength training or both?

Thanks
