Dear all,

FYI, the newest version of the Articulated Total Body (ATB) model, ATBV.3 has been released. This version includes several code modifications and new features sure to be of interest to users, such as the ability to insert comments into the input stream as well as a new free format. Come to the meeting and get further information as well as your free copy.

As promised, here is the information for the 2004 ATB Users Group meeting.

This years meeting will be held in Salt Lake City, UT at the Embassy Suites. The dates for the meeting will be Wednesday 29 September 2004 and Thursday 30 September 2004. A block of hotel rooms have been reserved for those attending the meeting at a rate of $80; make sure that you request the ATB rate. Please call the hotel and make your reservations now, as this rate will only be held until 30 August and the number of rooms is limited. Their number is 801-359-7800

The 29th will be a day of user and technical presentations with discussions on new features and upcoming plans for ATB. Some potential participants are MSC Software, Dynamic Research Corporation, CFD Research Corporation, Defense Sciences Organization Singapore, NAVAIR, General Dynamics, and Air Force Research Laboratory. I invite you all to make a presentation. Please email myself with a short title and your intent to present ASAP and a short abstract to follow (If you have already done so, then you don't need to again). I would like to have a list together by the end of July so that I can start organizing the agenda. Abstracts should be turned in by Mid-Sept.

The evening of the 29th will have a social gathering with a catered dinner/reception. The menu choices are Grilled Vegetable Napoleon or New York Steak. Each will be served with salad, Chef's choice of potato, dessert and coffee or tea. Each registration will include 1 dinner ticket. Additional tickets can be purchased for $25. The Embassy suites offers a full cooked breakfast in the morning and a reception in the evening (before dinner).

The 30th will be a short course on ATB conducted by General Dynamics with an additional registration fee. This course will be either an introductory course or an applied topics course. More information to follow by GD as they are still collecting information on what type of course the users want. If you are interested in attending and have topic ideas for the course, feel free to email myself and I will forward your comments.

For those not attending the course. Goodrich will be offering a tour of their Hurricane Mesa Test Track facility on October 1st. A bus tour will depart Salt Lake City on September 30th for some additional sight seeing on the way. This is one of the locations where rocket sled ejection tests are performed. Goodrich will be giving a demonstration test and all are invited. There will be a bus tour departing Salt Lake City or you can make your own arrangements (then you could do this and the course!!!) to get there and back. Please see the attachment for further information and contact Al Karl at alva.karl@wpafb.af.mil if you are interested.

Registration costs for the 29th meeting are $65 if you pre-register by 30 August and $100 if you register after then. Registration fees will include the meeting on the 29th, 1 Dinner ticket, a CD of the proceedings (available after the meeting) and a PC executable of the new ATBV.3 version just released. You can either mail, email, or phone in your registration. This year you can pay with a credit card (MC/VISA) or a check made payable to General Dynamics Advanced Information Engineering Services. We may not be able to handle Credit Cards at the door, so if you intend to pay with one, please pre-register.

Feel free to pass on this info and I apologize in advance if you receive this email several times, I am working from some old distribution lists that were combined.

Sincerely,
Joseph Pellettiere

Some of you have heard some discussion of this tour starting the Thursday morning after the SAFE Association Symposium '04 and concluding in either/or Salt Lake City - Las Vegas on Saturday. This opportunity is also being made available to 2004 ATB Users group attendees.

Tentative details are attached we now are looking at how much interest there is in the options presented.

I have reserved a block of 50 rooms at the Majestic Lodge for two nights, and presently one bus (47 passengers) is on hold. If we only fill one bus then the Las Vegas option is not under consideration. We will return to SLC.

NOTE: The rates stated include two nights lodging, bus fare, and entrance to both National Parks (Note: even if you have a yearly membership to the National Parks it will not change these rates). At some point in the future you'll be asked to submit a check to Al Karl-HMTF Tour'04 for either the single party amount or the double occupancy amount. Sorry, no provision for Visa, MC, or AmEx.

Thanks to all for your assistance,

Al
