I am conducting biomechanical testing on prosthetic devices and am
searching for a material which has mechanical properties which
approximate those of bone. Human joints are often hard to come by
and I don't want to waste them on simple benchtop experiments. Also,
it would be nice to work with a material which had consistant
properties from test to test. I have seen several studies which
have made use of foam. I would appreciate any suggestions for
working with foam or other possible surragate materials for this
application. Also, any comments on this approach would be greatly
appreciated. Thank you.
