Title: Post-doctoral Fellowship in Spine Biomechanics
Location: Ohio University
Date: Position Start: July 1, 2004 or earliest convenience

A post-doctoral fellowship is available in the Motor Control/ Biomechanics
Laboratory at Ohio University under the direction of Dr. James Thomas. This
position is funded by the NIH, through a grant that focuses on the role of
motor coordination in recurrent low back pain. The successful candidate
will be expected to design and conduct experiments, analyze data, prepare
manuscripts for publication, and participate at national level conferences.
The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to develop their own
line of work.

The successful applicant will possess a recent doctoral degree in
biomedical engineering, biomechanics, electrical or mechanical engineering,
kinesiology, neuroscience or a related discipline with a special interest in
spine biomechanics. A record of research in neuromuscular systems, motor
control, biomechanics, or neuroscience is preferred. Laboratory experience
with biomechanical measurements, electromyography, and motion analysis as
well as experience with programming in any of the following languages:
MATLAB, Visual Basic, C++, Visual C++, Labview etc.

The Motor Control / Biomechanics laboratory at O.U. is a state-of-the-art
facility and offers access to optoelectric and magnetic based movement
analysis systems, EMG systems and multiple force-plates. Additionally,
opportunities exist to be involved with ongoing collaborative investigations
with the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago and the Neural Control of
Movement Laboratory in Chicago (Daniel Corcos).
