Company Information
Afferent Corporation, an early-stage company in Providence, Rhode
Island, is pioneering the development of a new class of medical
devices to treat chronic neurological dysfunction. Our lead
technology enhances the performance of sensory cells as a means
of addressing complications resulting from diabetic neuropathy,
improving elderly balance, and restoring brain function following
stroke. Afferent's development efforts are being pursued in
collaboration with leading biomedical and clinical researchers
throughout the U.S. and Canada.

Job Description
The successful candidate will spearhead programs supporting
neurotherapy product innovation and development.

* Manage and support existing NIH-funded pre-clinical research.
* Create and seek funding for additional extramural research

Candidate Qualifications
We seek an independent, self-motivated individual to become a key
player in the scientific and technical core competency of our

Strong candidates will have:
* Ph.D. in biomechanics, bioengineering, neuroscience, exercise
science, or other relevant scientific discipline.
* 3-5 years of research experience and notable productivity in
human performance testing (balance, gait, motor control), human
human neurologic and neuromuscular function (EMG, sensory func-
tion, etc.), or other relevant areas.
* Demonstrated proficiency in scientific communication (written
and oral).
* Experience in grant writing and conducting government-funded
* Well-developed capabilities in instrumentation, computer-based
data acquisition, and statistical analysis of data.
* Innate creativity, curiosity, collaborative spirit, integrity,
and excellent interpersonal skills.
