Assistant/Associate/Full Professor
(Director of Human Performance Research Laboratory)

The Physical Therapy Program, Department of Rehabilitation Sciences in the
College of Health Professions at the Medical University of South Carolina
invites applications for a full-time, tenure track faculty to conduct
research, teach, and direct a Human Performance Research Laboratory. The
Human Performance Research Laboratory, along with a Motion Analysis
Laboratory, is integral to a newly established collaborative research
program, the Program on Movement, Exercise, and Rehabilitation Research.

The preferred requirements for this position include a research doctorate
in exercise physiology or a related discipline, a strong history of funding
and publications, exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, and
experience directing an interdisciplinary research laboratory.
Responsibilities will include: (1) directing the human performance
laboratory; (2) developing a sustainable line of research supported by
extramural funding; (3) teaching in appropriate areas; (4) mentoring
faculty and students in research, grantsmanship and publications; and (5)
establishing collaborative relationships with rehabilitation specialists
and related disciplines within and external to the Medical University of
South Carolina.

The Department of Rehabilitation Sciences is comprised of the graduate
professional Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Communication
Sciences and Disorders academic programs. The Department of Rehabilitation
Sciences has 19 full-time faculty members, a highly skilled group of
part-time and adjunct faculty, and approximately 300 students.

The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) is located in Charleston,
SC, and is the state's largest academic health sciences center. The MUSC
employs approximately 8,000 people, including over 1,000 faculty members.
It is home to six colleges (dental medicine, graduate studies, health
professions, medicine, nursing, and pharmacy) with 2,300 students, a
medical center, a children's hospital and a children's research institute,
and interdisciplinary centers in cancer, aging, neuroscience, health
economics, and biomedical research.

Charleston is a coastal city recognized for its beauty, history, culture,
and southern charm with a metropolitan area population of over 500,000.
