Faculty Position in Athletic Training
Appointment Effective September 1, 2005

POSITION: Assistant Professor, tenure-track appointment.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Primary responsibilities include teaching undergraduate
and graduate courses in athletic training and related areas, conducting
nationally visible, fundable research, advising undergraduate students, and
chairing master's theses and doctoral dissertations.

QUALIFICATIONS: Earned doctorate, NATABOC certification, and eligibility for
Delaware licensure as an Athletic Trainer required. Demonstrated ability to
conduct research and acquire funding for research preferred. Positive
teaching experience desirable. The successful applicant will be expected to
work in a collaborative environment with current department faculty.

GENERAL INFORMATION: Located in Newark, Delaware, the University of Delaware
is one of the oldest institutions of higher education in the country
combining tradition and innovation and offering students a rich heritage
combined with the latest in instructional and research technology. The
educational programs of six colleges supported 21,121 students in 2003,
including 16,428 undergraduate students, 3,301 graduate students, and 1,392
professional and continuing education students. Entering 2003 freshmen
typically ranked in the top quarter of their high-school graduating classes
with SAT scores averaging 1177. The Department of Health, Nutrition, and
Exercise Sciences is the largest and fastest growing academic unit in the
College of Health and Nursing Sciences, with 43 full-time faculty and over
800 student majors participating in seven undergraduate degree programs,
three master's programs, and an interdisciplinary Ph.D. program.

SALARY: Competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications.
