BIR Research Associate

The Baylor Institute for Rehabilitation (BIR) is seeking to hire a
full-time research associate. BIR is a 92-bed inpatient rehabilitation
facility that is associated with Baylor University Medical Center in
Dallas, Texas. BRI offers intense, highly specialized rehabilitation
services for traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, strokes and
other orthopaedic and neurological disorders. The successful applicant
will become an integral part of the research team at BIR which includes
a Ph.D. in Neuropsychology, Biomedical Engineering and Physical Therapy,
along with PM&R attending staff, residents and therapists.

Some of the Responsibilities include:

1. Perform literature searches on various research topics

2. Summarize pertinent literature and write background sections for
manuscript and grants

3. Administration of surveys and protocols to patients

4. Gather information from hospital and office charts

5. Assist in writing and editing manuscripts

6. Assist with IRB paperwork

7. Create Powerpoint presentations

8. Clinical data collection

Qualifications and Skills

1. Master's level education in the biological sciences (e.g.,
biomedical engineering or equivalent) or social sciences (e.g.,
experimental psychology) with a strong research component

2. Strong communication skills - proficient in the speaking and writing
the English language although bilingual skills in Spanish would be a

3. Strong analytical and organizational skills with some statistical
skills preferred

4. Experience in Office Software Suite (Word, Powerpoint and Excel)

5. Experience in performing literature searches and chart reviews

6. Experience in manuscript and grant writing

7. Experience with data entry and data base management

8. Experience in working with patients in an acute medical setting

9. Experience with patients with orthopedic and neurological injuries
