Graduate Study in Biokinesiology at the University Southern California

The Biokinesiology and Physical Therapy department at USC is looking for a
highly motivated PhD student interested in neuro-rehabilitation. The student
will be supported by a research assistantship (approximately $20,000 for 9
months which also includes tuition remission and health insurance) for the
first year and by research/teaching assistantship for the following years.
The applications are for the Fall semester of 2005.
We are currently developing novel rehabilitation methods using robotics, and
virtual reality, and adaptive algorithms. During the course of the PhD, the
student will be involved in the design and testing of these methods, and is
expected to make significant scientific and clinical contributions to the
fields of Biokinesiology and Physical Therapy.

The applicant should have a clinical training in Physical Therapy,
Occupational Therapy, Medicine, or equivalent, and experience in
neuro-rehabilitation, preferably stroke. The candidate must be committed to
pursue scientific research at the highest level, and enthusiastic about
developing and testing novel technologies in the field of
neuro-rehabilitation. Further, because of the multi-disciplinary nature of
the research (Rehabilitation, Psychology, Neuroscience, and Engineering) the
applicant should be creative, have the ability to learn new concepts and
skills (including computer skills) quickly. Previous research experience
will be considered favorably.

The department of Biokinesiology and Physical Therapy is ranked number 1 by
US News and World Report. Fore more information about the PhD program in
