-- Post Graduate Research Scientist Position in Joint Biomechanics --

Center for Musculoskeletal Surgery,
Charité - University Medicine,
Berlin

The Center for Musculoskeletal Surgery is searching for a highly motivated,
ambitious engineer to support the biomechanics division of our research
laboratories. The position will focus on the development and evaluation of
new implants for orthopaedic surgery. The successful candidate should
exhibit
a strong background in biomechanical engineering, work well in a team
environment and possess strong problem solving skills. Experience in both
mechanical testing and computer analysis would be considered a bonus. It
is expected that the candidate will pursue a Ph.D. during their working
time in the lab.

Improved knowledge of the loading and kinematics of both the bone and soft
tissue structures in human joints can lead to improved clinical outcome.
With
our close collaboration to the orthopaedic and trauma clinic of the Charité,
we aim to complete a number of projects based on clinically relevant aspects
of the treatment of musculoskeletal disorders. Through increased knowledge
of joint and implant loading by mechanical testing, together with defined
surgical and rehabilitation strategies, it is intended to provide extensive
knowledge that may help both routine and borderline clinical cases to be
optimally planned and reliably reconstructed.

Since their conception some ten years ago, the research laboratories of
the Center for Musculoskeletal Surgery have grown into a group of over 30
personnel under the guidance of Professor Georg N. Duda. The successful
applicant will therefore become part of a highly motivated interdisciplinary
team in an extremely successful scientific working environment.
