The Department of Biokinesiology and Physical Therapy at USC is seeking
highly motivated graduate students interested in pursuing a doctoral degree
in Biokinesiology.

Biokinesiology integrates the study of movement at the molecular, cellular,
organ and systems level, giving students a unique, interdisciplinary
perspective of the biological bases of normal and disordered movement. The
PhD curriculum strikes a balance between providing students with a broad
exposure to the variety of disciplines within Biokinesiology, and giving
students the advanced skills necessary to excel in one of four research
areas offered by the department.

1. Biomechanics

2. Exercise science and muscle physiology

3. Motor behavior and neuromotor control

4. Motor development

All students accepted as full-time Ph.D. students in the Department of
Biokinesiology and Physical Therapy are guaranteed full stipend and tuition
support as long as they continue to make satisfactory progress toward the
degree. The stipend, typically paid over the nine-month academic year,
begins at $20,000/year for first-year students. Applicants with interest in
one of the research areas listed above, preferably supported by previous
research experience, together with high GPAs and GRE scores will be
considered favorably.

Los Angeles is one of the most diverse, multicultural centers in the world,
and is an exciting place to live. Southern California offers a plethora of
cultural events, gorgeous beaches and snow covered mountains, as well as an
exceptional wealth of research universities, hospitals, treatments centers,
and outreach programs.

In 2004, US News and World Report ranked the department of USC
Biokinesiology and Physical Therapy number 1 among Physical Therapy graduate
programs! For enquiry about the possibility of applying to our unique,
