Position for a Postdoctoral Fellow in Motor Control
at the Pennsylvania State University, Department of Kinesiology

Project Supervisor: Dagmar Sternad

We are currently seeking a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to join our
studies on motor control. Our research focus is on the structure of
variability and the role of stability in the acquisition and
performance of skilled actions. The experimental work is conducted in
a virtual environment. The postdoctoral fellow should have a
background and expertise in at least one of the following fields:
motor control and learning, biomechanics, experimental psychology,
nonlinear dynamics and modeling. Experience with computers and
programming (Matlab) is expected.

Candidates should have a Ph.D. in Kinesiology, Experimental
Psychology, or Physical and Engineering Sciences, with an academic
record of scientific excellence, independent research, and a strong
interest in an interdisciplinary approach to motor control. The
applicant is expected to get involved in existing research projects
but is also encouraged to bring to bear his/her expertise into the
research project.

The Department of Kinesiology at the Pennsylvania State University
has a strong focus on motor control and biomechanics with many
faculty members working on related issues. This provides a
stimulating environment for collaborations and interdisciplinary
research. The position will be supported by a NIH grant.

Applicants should submit a curriculum vita, list of publications, and
two contact persons for letters of recommendation.
