Orthopedic Biomaterials Engineer
Engineering Associate

Dynamic consulting firm in Oregon seeks an experienced and highly motivated
biomaterials engineer with a strong background in metallurgy/metallography,
polymer characterization, and scanning electron microscopy to support a
growing litigation practice in the analysis and prevention of orthopedic
implant failures. MS and at least two years relevant industrial experience,
or its equivalent required. Candidate must be experienced in the data
acquisition for and interpretation of a wide variety of biomaterials
characterization procedures. Experience with stress analysis a definite
plus. Successful candidates will be expected to help manage a large
portfolio of individual cases that include medical and radiographic records,
retrieved implants, and litigation-related documents. Experimental and
analytical evidence must then be integrated in support of opinions on the
causation of implant failure. Evidence should reflect the appropriate
balance of surgical-, patient- and materials-related aspects of the clinical
performance of orthopedic implants. Successful candidates will also have
demonstrated the ability to incorporate critical reviews of available
literature in the formulation of conclusions. Recent Ph.D. graduates and
P.E.'s will also be considered. Starting Salary is commensurate with
educational level and experience. Full benefits and, after one year, the
possibility of a profit-sharing/incentive plan are also available.
