View Full Version : Electrogoniometers to measure shoulder flexion/extension?

Hello all,

I am designing an experiment in which I will measure shoulder flexion and
extension during walking. I do not have access to cinematography equipment, and
accelerometers placed on the wrists produce a chaotic output. So I plan on
using Biometrics 180mm twin axis electrogoniometers. However, I cannot find any
information regarding the proper placement of electrogoniometers to measure
shoulder flexion/extension, and I do not want to arbitrarily place them on the
shoulders. I have been placing one end of the electrogoniometer on the acromion
and the other end near the insertion of the deltoid, which works fairly well,
but I haven't found any references that support this placement. I would be most
appreciative if someone could give me some advice or inform me of pertinent
articles regarding the proper placement of electrogoniometers to measure
shoulder flexion/extension.

Thanks in advance,
