The HUMAINE Clinic Zihlschlacht and the Automatic Control Lab, ETH Zurich, are offering a postdoctoral research position in the field of neuro-rehabilitation engineering.

The focus of the position is directed to the development of novel neuro-rehabilitation strategies and devices for the improvement of motor functions such as standing (balance), walking, and grasping in patients with neuro-logical impairments (e.g. Parkinson, Multiple Sclerosis, hemiplegia). The candidate should design, implement, and experimentally verify the new strategies and devices on patients. Therefore, profound engineering background is required. The position is embedded in a multi-disciplinary scientific team of engineers, physicians, and physiotherapists.

We are looking for a communicative and scientifically interested candidate with PhD degree and a strong background in rehabilitation or biomedical en-gineering. Specific experience in movement science, kinesiology, biomechanics, or similar fields is advantageous. Knowledge of German language is recommended but not required.

The position will be a 60-80% employment, ready to be filled on September 1st, 2005. It will be limited to one year. However, extension for a second year is intended.

For questions regarding this position please contact Prof. Dr. Robert Riener (riener@control.ee.ethz.ch; Tel. +41-44-6326679). If you are interested please send your CV, a brief letter of research interest, copies of university attestations and scores, and at least 2 reference letters to the following address:
