A research associate position is available in the Biotechnology Research
Center at Michigan Technological University. Research areas in the Center
cover plant and animal sciences, and span from molecular biology and
genomics to genotyping and mechanotransduction. Responsibilities for this
position include assisting researchers with molecular and biochemical
techniques, providing training to graduate and undergraduate students and
overseeing daily operations and maintenance of the Centers equipment.

BS in biology, chemistry or related fields required, advanced degree
preferred. Candidates should have experience in basic molecular biology
techniques, such as DNA, RNA or protein analysis, cloning, sequencing,
real-time PCR, tissue culture, histology and microarray. Experience with
musculoskeletal biology preferred, both animal and plant systems is a
plus. Familiarity with personal computers and basic software packages
required. We seek an individual with a high level of interest and
motivation as well as strong research and academic preparation. Academic
and employment recommendations should speak authoritatively concerning
these qualifications.
