PhD Studentship: Biomedical engineering, biomechanics, biomaterials
We seek to recruit an enthusiastic individual to work on an exciting biomedical engineering project in conjunction with 2 major UK NHS hospitals and the biomedical industry.
The project will investigate the mechanical properties of bones with invasive and non-invasive methods and further develop prototype equipment for this purpose.
The candidate should ideally have an applied science electronic background (electrical or mechanical engineering, physics, materials etc.) Some knowledge in instrumentation, tissue mechanics, or medical physics would be desirable, but not strictly necessary.
A good honours degree (either 1st, or 2i, or a 2ii + MSc) on any applied science, engineering, physics, materials, or closely related subjects. The post is open primarily to EU candidates and those who fulfil U.K. residency conditions.
There is a generous stipend to accompany this post and details for the Department's research activities in this area can be seen in:
3 years - start date October 2005
