Accepting Applications for Faculty Position

The Program in Physical Therapy at Washington University School of Medicine
is seeking a full-time faculty member whose primary responsibility is to
conduct research applicable to the biomechanics of movement. Applicants
should have a record of publications and grant funding. The faculty member
will be expected to establish a scholarly focused area of research within a
productive laboratory environment, making significant contributions to the
body of knowledge in movement science and provide training to Ph.D.
students in Movement Science. Contributions in the areas of teaching and
service are negotiated to achieve proper balance of responsibilities and to
participate in achieving our Program’s missions. Faculty members have the
opportunity to participate in all three doctoral curricula and in areas of
clinical practice that are relevant to their research interests.

The Program in Physical Therapy is located on the medical campus in updated
facilities that are well equipped for teaching, research, and patient-care.
Current program facilities include eight research laboratories that support
collaborative studies in the movement sciences. Substantial opportunities
exist for collaboration with scientists in multiple departments within
Washington University. The core faculty of the Program in Physical Therapy
is comprised of 29 individuals, over 90% of whom have doctoral degrees, and
18 staff who serve multiple Program needs. Faculty members interact
extensively with faculty in other departments both on the medical and
liberal arts campuses. The participating faculty of the Ph.D. program
includes individuals from Physical Therapy and the Departments of Anatomy
and Neurobiology, Neurology, Medicine, Biology, Psychology, Cell Biology
and Physiology, Otolaryngology, Orthopedics and Engineering.
