The UCD Centre for Materials and Manufacturing is based in the UCD School of
Electrical, Electronic and Mechanical Engineering, University College
Dublin. Applications are now being sought for Postdoctoral Research
Engineers and Postgraduate Students (Masters/PhD) to work on the following
research projects:

Surface Modification of Medical Devices Polymers
The interaction of cells with medical device polymers is dependant on
properties such as surface energy, morphology and chemistry. In this project
these surface properties will be tailored using plasma treatments. The
influence of the polymer surface properties on cell adhesion will then be
evaluated.

Impact energy absorbing foam materials for use in safety helmets
This project will involve the development of functionally graded materials
