Associate/Assistant Professor - Physical Education Pedagogy

Rank and Salary:

Associate or Assistant Professor in the Department of Kinesiology, Health Promotion, and Recreation. This tenure track position will contribute to the department, college, and university's commitment to achieve excellence at the regional and national levels. The individual selected will serve a nine-month, tenure track appointment beginning fall semester 2006. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience and background. Summer employment is contingent on student demand and funding.

Qualifications:

Doctorate in Kinesiology, Physical Education, or closely related field. ABD considered. Public school teaching experience is preferred. A focused line of research compatible with the resources at UNT that is clear, identifiable, consistent, progressive, and independent leading to scholarly publications and presentations is required. Evidence of effective college teaching and ability to teach a variety of kinesiology theory core and elective courses for all kinesiology majors, including those focused upon physical education pedagogy, at undergraduate and graduate levels are preferred.

Responsibilities:

Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: (1) Teach kinesiology theory core and elective courses at undergraduate and graduate levels; (2) Conduct a focused line of research, publish articles in areas of expertise in appropriate scientific journals, and present papers at national or international meetings; (3) Submit external grant applications; (4) Direct master's theses and research projects; (5) Advise students; (6) Serve on departmental, college, and university committees, including NASPE/NCATE Physical Education Teacher Education program review; and (7) Supervise practicum students and student teachers.

Professor/Associate Professor - Physical Activity Epidemiology

Rank and Salary:

Professor or Associate Professor. The Department of Kinesiology, Health Promotion and Recreation is recruiting a highly motivated Professor or Associate Professor who will bring strengths in research and teaching to support the department's academic initiative in physical activity epidemiology. The ideal candidate for this position will be an experienced investigator with a defined program of research that contributes to the knowledge base in physical activity epidemiology. The position will result in a leadership role in developing the Ph.D. program in physical activity epidemiology including the recruitment of future faculty, staff, and students and procurement of support for a unique and nationally recognized program. This tenured or tenure track position will contribute to the department, college, and university's commitment to achieve excellence at the national level by developing and coordinating a Ph.D. program in physical activity epidemiology. The individual selected will serve a nine-month, tenured or tenure track appointment beginning fall semester 2006. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience and background Summer employment is contingent on student demand and funding.

Doctorate; focus in epidemiology or other closely related field; research interests in physical activity epidemiology; evidence of scholarly productivity; university teaching experience preferred, commitment to obtaining extramural support for research, and interest in developing partnerships with state agencies and community organizations.
