Dear Biomch-lers

We have constructed a finite element model of macaque
skulls including the cranial-facial muscles and need to
input a value for the Young's modulus of the muscle
material. We realise that muscle is a complex structure
and that the properties will change depending on
whether it is in the relaxed or contracted state, but
really we want an idealised bulk modulus. The values we
have used so far have ranged from 60MPa to 10GPa, and
while the values do not have a signinficant effect on
the results we would still like to reassure ourselves
that they are vaguely in the right range. There is
nothing that I can find in the literature to guide us -
can anyone help?

Thanks in advance

Catherine Dobson
