Graduate Study in Biomechanics at the University of Texas at El Paso

The Biomechanics and Motor Behavior Laboratory at the University of
Texas at El Paso (UTEP) is seeking a highly motivated graduate student
interested in footwear biomechanics. The project will be conducted
under the guidance of Dr Veni Kong and Dr Darla Smith. A Research
Assistant position will be open for the Spring / Summer semester of 2006
with a monthly stipend for 20 hours per week. The student will pursue a
MS degree in the Department of Kinesiology or an inter-disciplinary
Ph.D. degree in the College of Health Sciences.

The current Biomechanics and Motor Behavior Laboratory is equipped with
a VICON 8-camera automatic tracking system, two Peak Motus 3D video
analysis systems, an 8-channel EMG system, a 16-channel wireless EMG
system, 4 AMTI force plates, a Biodex System 3 dynamometer and 2 Redlake
high-speed cameras.

Applicants are expected to meet all requirements for admission to the
UTEP graduate program. Students with background in kinesiology,
biological science and engineering are encouraged to apply. Prior
experience in biomechanical measurements (eg. Motion analysis, EMG) and
programming in Matlab, while not required, is highly desirable.
Interested candidates should send a letter of interest and CV by email
to: Dr Veni Kong (pkong@utep.edu) before November 12, 2005.
