The Musculoskeletal Mechanics and Materials Laboratory in the Department of
Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Case Western Reserve University is
actively recruiting students interested in obtaining a Ph.D. with a
specialization in biomechanics of orthopaedic tissues and related devices.
Ongoing research in the laboratory is directed toward bone mechanics and
adaptation, orthopaedic implant evaluation and cartilage biomechanics.

The Musculoskeletal Mechanics and Materials Laboratory has been at the
forefront of orthopaedic research for over 30 years. The laboratory is
based within the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering with
strong collaborations with other departments in the School of Engineering as
well as the School of Medicine. Funding (including tuition and stipend) is
available for qualifying students. Interested students should contact an
associated faculty member and prepare and application for admissions
(deadline Feb 1, 2006).

Information regarding the interests of faculty in the Musculoskeletal
Mechanics Laboratory can be found at:

Case Western Reserve University supports a diverse student population and
encourages applications from women and members of groups that have been
traditionally under-represented in science and engineering.
