The School of Computing and Engineering at the University of Missouri -
Kansas City (www.sce.umkc.edu) seeks candidates for an assistant,
associate or full professor position in a rapidly expanding Mechanical
Engineering department located in the heart of Kansas City. A
successful candidate should have a strong commitment to undergraduate
and graduate education and the development of an externally funded
research program. Candidates are sought who specialize in mechanics and
mechanical design with research interests in bioengineering,
specifically, characterization and modeling of biomaterials and tissues.
Opportunities exist to interface with numerous engineering and
manufacturing firms such as the U.S. DOE's Honeywell Federal
Manufacturing and Technologies Facility. In addition, potential
collaborative interdisciplinary research opportunities exist with the
UMKC Schools of Biological Sciences, Dentistry, Medicine and Pharmacy as
well as the University of Kansas Medical Center and numerous outstanding
life sciences research programs such as the Stowers Institute for
Medical Research, Midwest Research Institute, several regional hospitals
and major healthcare technology firms. An earned doctorate in
Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field is required.
Industrial experience and the ability to obtain a Professional
Engineering license are highly desirable. Rank and salary will be
commensurate with experience. Evaluation of applicants will commence
