The School of Sport and Education at Brunel University is seeking a highly motivated doctoral student in the area of developmental biomechanics. The posted position is available immediately.

Applications are invited for a 3 year PhD bursary in developmental biomechanics. The bursary provides an annual stipend of 8000 and covers tuition fees. The successful applicant will work toward a PhD in developmental changes in muscle mechanics and their effect on motor behaviour during childhood under the supervision of Dr. Thomas Korff.

Applicants must be E.U. citizens and should have the following qualifications and abilities:

- Masters degree (or equivalent) in Biomechanics, Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related area.
- Computer programming skills (Matlab and MS-excel are desirable)
- Effective communication skills
- Ability to work in a research team
- Strong problem solving abilities

The subject area of Sport Sciences at Brunel University is nationally and internationally recognized as a leader in research and teaching. It is rated fifth by The Times and third by The Guardian league tables.

The Biomechanics Laboratory at Brunel University is equipped with a real time Motion Analysis system, an 8-channel telemetry EMG system, four Kistler force platforms, a Biodex isokinetic dynamometer, two custom-made force pedals for use in cycling research, and a 2D ultrasound imaging system.
