View Full Version : Lower limb biomechanics in Virginia / Maryland

01-03-2006, 09:05 AM
Hi everyone,

I received this message on the ASMI Sports Medicine Forum:
I am a New Zealand trained podiatrist, with 10 years of good biomechanical, orthotic and sports injury management. I am emmigrating to the U.S in the next few months, and I want to work in my specialist field, although I'm aware I cannot register or work as a 'Podiatrist' within the States. Us Commonwealth countries can all swap podiatrists between ourselves, but the States went the next level with their surgical and medical criteria for podiatrists. I want a job as a biomechanist (lower limb only!) or orthotist - A title that is accurate and legal. I'm hoping that as U.S poditrists are expert surgeons, rather than focussing on non-surgical treatments, there is a place within a podiatry clinic or sports medicine clinic where I can legally use my skills and experience, and be of benefit to the exsisting practitioners. (I already have a grrencard) I am moving to Maryland, Virginia. Does anyone out there know anything that may contribute?
