POSITION IN JOINT MECHANICS OR SOFT TISSUE MUSCULOSKELETAL RESEARCH
Bone and Joint Center, Department of Orthopaedic Surgery
Henry Ford Health System

A Senior Bioscientific Staff position is available in the area of joint
mechanics or soft tissue musculoskeletal research. Qualifications include a
Ph.D. in bioengineering, biology, anatomy or a related field with an
emphasis on the in-vivo mechanical and biological behavior of
musculoskeletal joints or soft tissues.

The successful applicant will join a multidisciplinary team of five
investigators with complementary research programs examining various
aspects of the musculoskeletal system. Clinical collaborations are with a
strong, active orthopaedics group. The Bone and Joint Center has expertise
and well-equipped facilities for motion analysis, biomechanics,
musculoskeletal modelling, computational mechanics, 3D imaging, animal
models, anatomy, cell biology, histology, biochemistry and molecular
biology. In addition to excellent conventional facilities for supporting
research in all of these areas, the researcher would have access to a
unique stereo X-ray system designed for human in-vivo measurement of bone,
joint and soft tissue dynamics, with 3D accuracy of 0.1 mm and imaging
rates up to 1000 frames/second. Academic appointments (at the
assistant/associate/full professor level, depending on qualifications) are
available through our affiliation with nearby Wayne State University.

The applicant will be expected to develop an independent, NIH funded
research program and collaborate with other Bone and Joint Center
investigators. Preference will be given to applicants with:
- postdoctoral experience
- demonstrated research potential
- a record of scholarly activity including peer-reviewed publications
- a strong desire for multidisciplinary collaborations
- expertise in experimental measurement of joint mechanics or soft tissue
mechanics

Applicants should send their resume, a statement of their current and
long-term research goals and the names and addresses of three references to
the address below. Consideration of applicants will continue until the
position is filled.
