Position: LABORATORY MANAGER/TECHNICIAN IN BIOENGINEERING
Location: NEUROMUSCULAR BIOMECHANICS LABORATORY AT CORNELL
UNIVERSITY, ITHACA, NY

US CITIZENSHIP/PERMANENT RESIDENCY REQUIRED

Our Laboratory seeks applicants for the post of a laboratory
manager/technician. The research focus of our lab is the human hand
and upper extremity, with an emphasis on understanding the
biomechanics and sensorimotor function underlying manipulation.
Computer administration and experimental support responsibilities
include design and fabrication of electromechanical experiments,
programming of data acquisition software, recruiting subjects,
executing experiments, data analysis, testing of cadaveric specimens,
assisting in data collection, and technical writing.

A background in bioengineering, mechanical, or electrical engineering
with emphasis in experimental studies is necessary. The equipment in
the laboratory includes 6-DOF robotic arms, VICON motion capture
systems, specialized load frames, EMG amplifiers and Phantom haptic
devices. Our work entails extensive MATLAB programming and use of
common computer hardware/OS/software. Familiarity with C, machine
shop fabrication, and electronic circuits is also strongly desired.

The position involves close interaction with faculty, engineering
students, post-doctoral fellows and clinicians. A bachelor's degree
in engineering or a science related field is required; a Master's
degree is preferred; PhD graduates will also be considered.
Applicants with research experience will be given strong preference.
This term position is available May 2006 and is funded for 2 years
with possibility of renewal.

Our laboratory consists of an interdisciplinary group of graduate and
undergraduate students, post-doctoral fellows, clinicians, and
faculty in engineering, computer science, mathematics and
bioengineering.
