- 2 year appointment

- Salary range: Level A $45,660 - $61,963 p.a. plus 17% superannuation -
minimum starting salary for appointee with a PhD will be $57,724 p.a.

The School of Human Movement and Exercise Science is seeking suitable
candidates to fill a research associate position sponsored by ViconPeak.
The purpose of position is to develop new state of the art and validated
whole body computer models for use in motion analysis. The tasks will
include: 1) development of software in Vicon Bodybuilder and Matlab for
upper limb and torso motion modelling, 2) carryout experiments to validate
the developed software and 3) liaise with ViconPeak in development of
software tools for modelling. The appointment will be for fixed term of 24
months. A full time appointment is favoured, however, a part time
appointment would be considered.

The applicant for this position should have a PhD in biomechanics or degree
in engineering, with strong experience in motion analysis and exceptional
quantitative/mathematical skills. Experience in biomechanical modelling,
using computer languages and software, especially C/C++, SIMM, and MATLAB,
and experience working in PC environments is highly desirable. Experience
using a Vicon motion analysis system is also highly desirable. Good written
and verbal communication skills are also essential. Some assistance with
relocation expenses (if applicable) may be negotiated with the Director of
the project.

The Biomechanics Laboratories in the School are exceptionally well equipped
with 2 Vicon Mx Motion Analysis systems and a 200 Hz Peak Motion Analysis
systems, AMTI and Kistler force plates, two multi channel EMG systems, and
ultrasound machines. Software packages used in the group are Vicon Body
Builder, SIMM, SD Fast, Matlab, and C/C++. Mechanical and electronic
technical support staff is available for equipment development.
