2 Research Positions in Virtual Reality applied to Robot-Aided Rehabilitation and Obstetrics at ETH Zurich, Switzerland:

The Sensory-Motor Systems Lab, ETH Zurich & Balgrist University Hospital, is
offering two research positions on a PhD or postdoctoral level in the field
Virtual Reality applied to neuro-rehabilitation or obstetrics.

The focus of the neuro-rehabilitation position is to enhance the gait
therapy robot Lokomat with an audiovisual display so that the patient can
immerse into a virtual environment while walking. This should increase the
motivation of the patient and improve the therapeutic outcome. The goal of
the obstetrics project is to develop a virtual delivery room and to simulate
the physiological processes involved during birth in order to enable
training of obstetricians and midwives, and improve the prediction of birth

In both projects profound engineering background is needed. The rehab
project requires also experience in electronic hardware design. Both
positions are embedded in a multi-disciplinary scientific team of engineers,
physicians, and therapists. We are looking for communicative and qualified
candidates with MSc or PhD degree and a strong background in biomedical
engineering. Specific experience in movement science, rehabilitation
engineering, biomechanics, physiological simulation and control or similar
fields is advantageous.

Starting date is negotiable. For questions regarding this position please
