We are seeking a motivated individual for a new 3-year project
"efficient methods for multidomain biomechanical simulations". The
project aims to develop novel algorithms for concurrent simulation of
musculoskeletal dynamics and tissue mechanics.

The project is funded by the National Institutes of Health and is a
collaboration between the Cleveland Clinic Foundation (Ton van den
Bogert, Ahmet Erdemir), NASA Glenn Research Center (Alan Freed), the
University of Utah (Jeff Weiss), and the Center for Biomedical
Computation at Stanford University (Scott Delp).

The postdoctoral fellow will divide their time between Cleveland and
Stanford University, in blocks of 6-12 months. In Cleveland, the
postdoctoral fellow will be responsible for developing 3D muscle-driven
simulations of human gait, for interfacing these to finite element
models of the foot, and for performing simulations to study interactions
between neuromuscular control and stress distribution in the foot. In
Stanford, the postdoctoral fellow will be responsible for the
dissemination of documented algorithms, software, and models via

A doctoral degree and a solid background in mechanical engineering are
required. We are specifically looking for the following skills:

- musculoskeletal modeling and forward dynamic simulation
- applied mathematics (differential equations, linear algebra,
- programming (Matlab, C, C++)
- software engineering
- scientific writing and communication
- creative and independent thinking

Salary: $55,000.
