********************** Postdoctoral Position **********************

Study of cardiac mechanics using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) motion
analysis. Involves use of finite element methods and image analysis to model
cardiac mechanics and study structure/function relations. Suitable background
would include Ph.D. in Biomechanics or Mechanical Engineering, with experience
in finite element methods or cardiac mechanics preferred; image processing
experience also helpful. Will work with both computer modeling and experimental
methods to study normal and pathologic cardiac function. Will be part of an
interdisciplinary group including radiologists, cardiologists, bioengineers,
physiologists and image processing researchers, led by Leon Axel, director of
noninvasive cardiovascular imaging at the Hospital of the University of
Pennsylvania Department of Radiology. Responsibilities will include development
of new research directions, continuation of ongoing projects, and helping to
supervise graduate students.
