We are seeking an enthusiastic individual to work on an exciting and
innovative 2 year project to develop a novel vibration exercise device for
sports and rehabilitation applications. The objective is to develop and
refine the existing software and hardware, conduct preliminary studies
looking at muscle activation with different exercise protocols and conduct
a study on the effects of the exercise device on physiological structures.
The project is funded by the NEStech fund.
Ideally you will have a background in bioengineering or applied science.
You will have a higher degree (MSc of PhD) in bioengineering or similar
discipline, experience of biosignals processing (mainly EMG), be well
organised and have experience of using MS Office and digital signal
processing software.
A working knowledge in the following areas is essential: LabVIEW, human
response to vibration, signal processing, mechanical engineering,
instrumentation, ergonomics/human factors, health and safety,
biomechanics.
In addition to having the right technical background, you will be
ambitious, enthusiastic, with good interpersonal skills who can work
either independently or as part of a multi-disciplinary team, using
initiative and logical thinking and with an ability/willingness to
collaborate with industrial contacts. This fixed term post is available
for 24 months. If appropriate, you will be encouraged to register for a
higher degree at the University.
