Vision & Movement Control Research Studentship – fully funded 3-year project

The Vision and Mobility Research Laboratory is currently seeking an
enthusiastic, self-motivated PhD student, to work on an ongoing research
project which is supported by a grant from The Health Foundation UK.
Candidates should have a good background in motor control, biomechanics
and/or movement science. The successful candidate will join a
multi-disciplinary research team which has members from the Schools of Life
Science, Health Science and Engineering Design and Technology. The team is
lead by a biomechanist (Dr John Buckley) and a clinical vision scientist
(Prof David Elliott). The studentship will cover all student fees and
provide a salary of £12,300 per year to EU members. Thus non EU members will
need to provide their own additional funding.

The PhD project will determine the importance of ‘online’ vision in the
control of stepping and landing mechanics during the transitions from one
level to another, and the importance of feed-forward versus feedback
mechanism. The successful candidate will register to undertake their PhD
within the Medical Engineering Research Group, School of Engineering Design
and Technology.

Interested candidates can contact Dr John Buckley (at
j.buckley@bradford.ac.uk) for informal enquiries.

Applicants should send a CV, a statement of reasons for applying for the
position, and a letter of reference to Shamim Haider at the address below.

Closing date for applications is 16th March 2007.
