Dear prospect students,

Several graduate assistantships are available for doctoral applicants for
fall 2007 in the Biomechanics program (Department of Kinesiology) at Texas
Woman's University (TWU). TWU is a CO-ED school located in Denton, Texas
(approximately 30 min. north of Dallas, Texas). Both male and female
students are equally encouraged to apply.

The Biomechanics Lab is equipped with an 8-camera motion analysis system
with a full array of accessories (Visol Kwon3D XP), 4 force plates (AMTI), a
telemetry EMG system (Noraxon TeleMyo), an isokinetic force dynamomer
(Biodex System 3), a balance assessment & traing system (NeuroCom Smart
Balance Master). The large space (6,300 sq-ft) allows a variety of research
projects within the lab. Recently, the Biomechanics program has gone through
substantial curricular changes, enhancing research components. The main
research agenda include prevention of falls in the elderly, biomechanics of
assistive walking devices, gait stability, understanding slip and fall
mechanism, muscular training of children with Down syndrome, ACL injury
mechanisms in female athletes, ergonomic applications, etc.

The general information about our program can be found at
