Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Sport and Exercise Science/Medicine

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a suitably qualified individual
specialising in sports and exercise medicine to join the School of Sport
and Health Sciences, University of Exeter. The successful candidate will
have teaching experience suitable for contributing to the new MSc
Programme in Sport and Exercise Medicine and research interests compatible
with existing research groups within the School.

The MSc in Sports and Exercise Medicine, commencing in October 2007, is a
collaborative initiative between the School of Sport and Health Sciences
and the Peninsula Postgraduate Health Institute. Staff in both Schools
have a long history of research collaboration which has resulted in joint
research grants and publications in the sphere of exercise, health and
medicine. Both schools already have established postgraduate taught
programmes, but this will be the first collaborative programme between the
two schools.

As well as teaching on the MSc in sport and exercise medicine, the
successful candidate will have the ability to contribute to teaching sport
and exercise biomechanics and/or physiology on the established
undergraduate and MSc programmes in the School, and to supervise MPhil/PhD
students. The School of Sport and Health Sciences has a thriving research
environment and prides itself on the research-led nature of all degree
programmes. The successful candidate will therefore have a strong
research profile, including a record of research publications. Particular
research interests of relevance include biomechanical and/or physiological
aspects of sports injury or sports performance.

Person Specification:
Ideal candidates for the post will meet the following requirements:

Sports science or medical practitioner training, and a relevant PhD
Strong record of research publications in sports and exercise medicine, or
a related discipline
Undergraduate and postgraduate teaching experience, ideally spanning
physiology and biomechanics.
Administrative and managerial experience
Desire to achieve excellence in research and teaching
