POST-DOCTORAL RESEARCH ASSOCIATE
Henry Ford Health System
Department of Orthopaedic Surgery
Bone and Joint Center

A Post-Doctoral Research Associate position is available in the areas
of in-vivo joint mechanics and/or in-vivo soft-tissue
mechanics. Qualifications include a PhD in biomedical engineering,
mechanical engineering, or a related field.

The successful applicant will join a multidisciplinary team of five
NIH-funded investigators with complementary research programs
examining various aspects of the musculoskeletal system. The Bone and
Joint Center has expertise and well-equipped facilities for motion
analysis, mechanical testing, musculoskeletal modeling, computational
mechanics, 3D imaging, animal models, cell biology, histology,
biochemistry and molecular biology. In addition to excellent
conventional facilities for supporting research in all of these
areas, the post-doctoral research associate will have access to a
unique biplane x-ray system designed for the accurate, in-vivo
measurement of joint and soft-tissue mechanics during dynamic activities.

The successful applicant will initially be involved with on-going
projects using the biplane x-ray system to measure in-vivo motion of
the shoulder, knee, spine, and foot/ankle, but will also be
encouraged to develop his/her own independent research projects with
collaborators in both the Bone and Joint Center and Department of
Orthopaedic Surgery. Preference will be given to applicants with
demonstrated research potential, a record of peer-reviewed
publications, a strong desire for multidisciplinary collaborations,
and expertise in an area that is complementary to the Bone and Joint
Center's existing capabilities.

Applicants should send their CV, a statement of their long-term
research goals, and the names and addresses of three references to
the address below. Consideration of applicants will continue until
the position is filled. Electronic applications will not be accepted.
