Senior Research Fellow in Computational Biomechanics

Salary 30,913 - 39,160

School of Engineering Sciences, University of Southampton, UK

The School wishes to appoint an engineer or scientist to join its Research Institute for Industry (RIfI), which delivers applied research and engineering solutions to industry. RIfI is an industrial arm of the School of Engineering Sciences drawing on the knowledge and themes within many of the School's research groups.

This post will be based within the School's Bioengineering Science Research Group and would be suitable for an individual experienced in computational mechanics (rigid body analysis and stress analysis). You should possess the ability to systematically analyse, solve and document engineering problems and have significant experience of computational mechanics in either an industrial or research setting. Experience in orthopaedic biomechanics, particularly in relation to total knee replacement would also be of benefit. Familiarity with at least one "high-end" computational mechanics tool such as Adams, Marc, Abaqus or LS-Dyna is essential. Experience of probabilistic modelling is desirable. Industrial experience and consultancy skills would also be welcome.

For an informal discussion about the post you may contact Professor Mark Taylor, School of Engineering Sciences, University of Southampton, SO17 1BJ, Phone: +44-(0)23-8059-7660, and Email: mtaylor@soton.ac.uk
