View Full Version : POSITION AVAILABLE: Engineer to join a pediatric biomechanicsresearch group

07-03-2007, 02:02 AM
The Center for Injury Research and Prevention at the Children's Hospital
of Philadelphia is currently recruiting a motivated engineer with
expertise in biomechanics and instrumentation to join our research group
in pediatric biomechanics and injury prevention. The Center is the
multidisciplinary home of Partners for Child Passenger Safety, the
largest child specific motor vehicle occupant crash surveillance system
and is the only member of the National Highway Traffic Safety
Administration's Crash Injury Research and Engineering Network (CIREN)
exclusively focused on pediatrics. The Center's engineering research is
focused on several biomechanical studies that are directed towards
determining the injury tolerance of children and pediatric surrogates,
development of test protocols, and computational modeling and
simulation. This new position represents a unique opportunity to join
our biomechanics research group and play a key leadership role in the
conduct of several novel studies utilizing pediatric volunteers and
scaling techniques to understand the biomechanical response of children.
The long-term goal of these studies is to improve biofidelity
corridors for pediatric anthropomorphic test devices (ATDs) so that the
performance of safety systems for child occupants can be accurately
assessed and improved.

Position requirements: Masters degree in bioengineering, electrical
engineering or mechanical engineering with an emphasis on experimental
biomechanics. Experience with high-speed data acquisition systems,
including instrumentation with accelerometers, load cells,
potentiometers, LVDT's, and strain gages applied to biomechanical
studies is highly preferred. The ideal candidate should be a motivated
individual who demonstrates clear ability to problem solve and who works
well in a team environment. The candidate should have demonstrated the
ability to write high-quality technical publications and reports.

Qualified applicants should send a maximum 2 page resume or CV to
