Postdoctoral position in modelling of bone mechanobiology

The Biomaterials, Biomechanics, and Tissue Engineering research group of
the Technical University of Catalonia (Barcelona, Spain) within the
Bioengineering Institute of Catalonia focuses its research in the
development of biomaterials and computer simulations of in vitro and in
vivo testing for tissue engineering. The group is currently offering a
research position at PostDoc level to work on the development of
multiscale techniques to study bone mechanobiology through computer
modelling. The candidate will work on the modelling of Calcium Phosphate
based scaffolds for bone tissue engineering and the simulation of
extracelular matrix formation within the scaffolds using
mechanoregulation algorithms.

The fellowship is offered for a period of one year with possibility of
renewable. The candidate is expected to start around mid-September 2007.

We are looking for outstanding candidate with a recent PhD in
Bioengineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Physics. The group aims at
research at the highest international level. Priority will be given to
candidate with experience in computer modelling and numerical techniques
in biomechanics. Good skills in both spoken and written English are
expected; knowledge of Spanish is beneficial. Candidates should be able
to work both independently and as a member of a team. Supervision of
undergraduate and postgraduate students will be expected.

Applicants should send a cover letter before 15 August 2007 stating
