View Full Version : Harness design for balance recovery study during gait

Dear all,

I am a researcher at Sheffield Hallam University looking at human postural reactions to a slip (i.e. a bacward loss of balance as a result of stepping onto a slippery surface) during gait. At the moment I am currently trying to develop a harness and overhead rail system that will be suitable to arrest a fall during gait trials. Our laboratory has a very high ceiling, so we do not have the option of developing a ceiling-mounted rail for the harness. Therefore, I was wondering if anyone has developed a free-standing frame/gantry as a harness design for gait analysis? If so, could you please send me some information on how you developed this harness design? Any help you could give me would be greatly appreciated.

Kind Regards

Dan Lawrence
