Position Title: Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering
University of Missouri - Kansas City

Position Description: The School of Computing and Engineering (SCE) is
seeking applicants for an assistant professor of Mechanical Engineering
within the school's rapidly-growing Civil and Mechanical Engineering
(CME) department. The successful candidate will have a strong
commitment to quality undergraduate and graduate education and will be
expected to develop an externally funded biomedical engineering research
program. While all areas of biomedical engineering will be considered,
primary consideration will be given to applicants with experimental or
computational experience in biomedical devices, biomechanics,
biomaterials, or bioinstrumentation. Applicants must demonstrate high

The CME department offers ABET-accredited BS and MS degrees in
Mechanical and Civil Engineering and participates in UMKC's
interdisciplinary PhD program. CME currently has 10 tenured/ tenure
track faculty members supported by adjunct and teaching faculty,
approximately 180 undergraduate students, and 55 graduate students. The
department has an extensive record of external funding, including funded
grants from NSF, NIH, and industry. The growing bioengineering emphasis
in CME and SCE is in line with the University's strategic plan to become
a leader in life sciences research and with the Kansas City Area Life
Sciences Institute's vision for Kansas City to become a major research
hub in the life sciences. Collaborative opportunities exist in UMKC's
Schools of Biological Sciences, Dentistry, Medicine, and Pharmacy; the
University of Kansas Medical Center; and numerous world-class life
sciences research facilities including the Stowers Institute for Medical
Research, the Midwest Research Institute, and several regional hospitals
and major healthcare technology firms. UMKC is located in the heart of

Qualifications: Candidates must have a Ph.D. degree in Mechanical
