We are seeking a highly motivated individual to conduct a series of
studies on neuromuscular electrical stimulation in humans as part of a
recently funded Enterprise Ireland Innovation partnership grant.
This project involves collaboration between Bio-Medical Research (BMR)
Ltd., and the Schools of Physiotherapy and Performance Science and
Electrical, Electronic and Mechanical Engineering, University College
Dublin, Ireland. The aim of the project is to develop and refine novel
techniques for neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES) applied to
re-education of muscle groups involved in maintaining spinal stability
and integrity of the pelvic floor. The work will involve development
and testing of new protocols for neuromuscular electrical stimulation
designed to provide a therapeutic benefit for chronic low back pain and
spinal instability. The successful candidate may also be asked to
become involved in studies on urinary incontinence.

Qualifications and Experience:
The successful candidate will preferably have a doctoral degree in the
field of physiotherapy, athletic training or exercise science and
experience in prescription and monitoring core stability training
programmes. We will consider candidates with qualifications to MSc
level. Experience in design and execution of clinical studies and
application of neuromuscular electrical stimulation is also desirable.

Job particulars:
We would like to fill this position as early as possible and are willing
to negotiate a suitable start date for the right candidate. The
duration of the contract will be for a maximum of one year (depending on
the start date) and we can offer a competitive salary with benefits.
